Modern Energy Management completes Owner’s Engineer role for 63MW PV solar GigaSol project

Emerging market specialist provided support to AC Energy growth goals in Philippines

Manila, 29 June 2021 – Modern Energy Management (MEM), a specialist in developing, building and operating investment grade renewable energy projects in emerging markets, announced that it completed its role as Owner’s Engineer for the GigaSol 63MWp solar project for AC Energy (PSE: ACEN) in Philippines.

Located in the Luzon region, the GigaSol project began exporting power on 25 April 2021.

MEM’s scope of work included engineering, design review, and construction quality management services. It was assisted in the project by its Filipino partner, SIDCORE Consulting, a boutique operation with extensive experience in consulting, from pre-development to implementation of renewable energy projects.

“The Gigasol project is another step toward AC Energy’s goal of reaching 5000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2025,” said Anabele Natividad, Vice President of Development for AC Energy, “the project started just prior to the pandemic. While this added some complexity to the project, we had a great team; Modern Energy was instrumental to the success of this project in the design and construction phases to bring us into operations.”

“The GigaSol project navigated new challenges to the construction process due to the pandemic,” stated Lars Lund, Director of Modern Energy Management. “We were able to implement procedures to ensure the safety of the construction teams during this period while maintaining the project quality and schedule to meet the needs of AC Energy’s operation goals.”

“Our ability to pivot in unforeseen circumstances, like the pandemic, is another way we believe we add significant value for our clients,” Mr. Lund continued. “We have a strong team that is unique in its abilities as each member has significant experience developing, building and operating renewable energy projects throughout Southeast Asia. We really drew on the strength of our team to meet AC Energy’s project and company goals.”

AC Energy Corporation is the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group, with a growing renewable energy footprint in Southeast Asia. The company set a goal to develop a capacity of 5000 MW of renewable energy by 2025, of which almost half is slated to be developed in Philippines.

Modern Energy is currently working on multiple solar projects across Southeast Asia for AC Energy that will generate over 250MWp of renewable energy.
